Laie Temple

Jared had some time off for the holidays. We decided to go for a drive. We ended up driving clear around the island to the Temple. Man is it beautiful! There is a long drive to it that is beautifully kept. I love the feeling you get when you are at the Temple! Even just driving up to it, the peace and comfort that rushes over you is so overwhelming! I love the gospel!

 The Temple, and grounds are beautiful like all of the temples.(The east side of the temple)

 This statue actually says Maternity at the top with water running out of the giant clam shell. It is called "Hawaiian Motherhood, by Avard T. Fairbanks (1917, cast concrete)". The main figure is a Hawaiian mother, holding a giant clam shell and symbolically pouring the love, hope, and care of maternity over her children. The water flows down to a pool by the visitors center.

These two trees were at least 30 feet apart and their limbs grew together to make a sweet canopy.

"Temple has Carved friezes, created by sculptor Avard Fairbanks, decorate each side of the top of the temple, depicting four dispensations of time: Old Testament Dispensation (west), New Testament Dispensation (south), Book of Mormon Dispensation (north), and Latter-day Dispensation (east)." This is the south side. The west side. I totally forgot to take a picture of the north.

This picture is facing east to the ocean. The view is stunning! One side of you is the ocean, and the other is mountains that is basically a jungle.  Directly behind the temple there is this park, and path up this hill. There is an old pioneer cemetery on the hill. All owned by the church. (This picture is facing west to the mountains.)

Most of the headstones were blank markers, but there were a few with names.
